Chicagoans have adopted various measures to survive their cold winters. One is putting "Caution Falling Ice" signs on the sidewalks in front of their buildings, presumably so they will have something to say in their defense, when someone gets impaled by an icicle falling off the building. The solution below is less common, but a whole lot more effective.
