September 13, 2000: My first birthday in another country. Despite my insistence on bringing a cake myself (which is the Dutch thing to do on your birthday), my American colleagues made sure I had a Real American Birthday party.
Because I had only told them the day before when my birthday would be, I really did not expect them to have organized anything.
But they had! The cake was made by Neil and Linda Morgan, and deserves a special mention in the annals of delicious and incredibly chocolaty cakes!
